At CPM we recognise that repairing rotating equipment when the customer needs it, to a reliable standard and at a cost which doesn’t break the bank is vital when equipment fails but that’s only part of the story. Ensuring the maximum life of the repair is where there are big savings to me made.

We can say all we like about our services but the only people whose opinions we value – and learn from – are our customers. So instead of the predictable “we-are-the-best” article, we have decided to showcase some examples of why our customers chose us, and let them have a say about how great we are.

Most of our customers have been with us for over 15 years. Why? Here are some examples:

1 £20k saved on high volume blowers by avoiding repairs and focusing on maintenanceAerzen blower catastrophically failed causing case damage and resulting in replacement blowers being purchased at a cost of £29,000 each. By implementing Route Cause of Failure procedures, calculating MTF, production trials, and having spares stored offsite, we contributed to savings of £20k.
2 £4k saved with Insulated BearingsAfter receiving a number of motors from a Paper Converter with obvious signs of pitting on the bearings, CPM identified it was being caused by an old V.S.D. Insulated bearings were fitted to the motors which have been performing satisfactorily ever since. Within 3 years, an estimated £4000 was saved in unnecessary overhaul costs.
3 Shaft Seal upgradeIn the early days of one of our maintenance programs with a customer, it was identified via Asset Failure Reports that many rotating assets were failing as a result of the ingress of water and/or product via the drive end seal. CPM investigated this and began a programme of replacement of standard seals with phosphor bronze bearing isolators. Failures quickly reduced.
4 Roller Bearing upgradeWe investigated the repeated failure of dryer fan motors and identified excessive axial load exerted by the fan on the drive end of the motor. The situation was rectified by replacing the standard ball bearing by a roller bearing resulting in a significant reduction in failures.
